The impact of child maltreatment can be profound. Research shows that child maltreatment is associated with adverse health and mental health outcomes in children and families, and those negative effects can last a lifetime. In addition to the impact on the child, child abuse and neglect also has profound, broad implications on communities. One analysis of the immediate and long-term economic impact of child abuse and neglect suggests that child maltreatment costs the nation as much as $258 million each day, or approximately $94 billion each year (Child Welfare Information Gateway).

The Child Abuse Council of Muskegon County serves thousands of children every year. All of our services are free of charge to those who need them. We cannot win this fight alone. We are asking that you consider sponsoring a child through our agency. There are multiple levels of sponsorship and every dollar helps! Your contribution is tax deductible.

Finally, please take a moment to honor the thousands of children who suffer at the hands of an adult in our community, but know that there is HOPE. With the right interventions, child victims come out of their traumatic experience more confident and hopeful for their future. When you sponsor a child, you will be asked to give some words of inspiration that will then be displayed on hearts throughout our lobby for all who enter our building to see.

Thank you for support of our agency and helping us to further our mission of preventing and treating child abuse and neglect through education, child advocacy and community collaboration. Every child matters.
